With a close-knit team of Vets, Nurses and Receptionists working at each clinic, you will be greeted by a familiar face. Each clinic has consulting rooms, inpatient facilities, operating theatre, X-ray and lab facilities so that we can usually treat your pet on-site.
Our services range from helping you to choose the most suitable family pet, through routine vaccinations, health checks, neutering and nutritional advice, to advanced diagnostics medical and surgical facilities. We can provide for all your pets’ needs. If your pet were to need them, we have advanced orthopaedic and soft tissue surgery, on-site CT scanner and dedicated Intensive Care Ward at our 24 hour clinic at Somerset Road, Almondbury. We strive to provide a personal service second to none.
As the longest established veterinary practice in Huddersfield, we continue the proud tradition of providing emergency services 24/7, 365 days a year, by our OWN dedicated team of veterinary surgeons and nurses here in Huddersfield.
The large newly opened clinic at Somerset Road provides the same friendly service but with the added benefit of 24/7 round-the-clock staffing, air-filtered high sterility theatres, CT diagnostics and Intensive Care facilities for the most critically ill patients.
That means that the practice is owned by many of the Vets who work in the practice. We care passionately about looking after your animals, be they a cat, dog, lizard or budgie. We pride ourselves on providing ‘Total Care’ for your pets and are here to help you with all aspects of pet ownership.

Central to maintaining that long term commitment is to ensure that we have strong leadership in each area of the business and so we are delighted to let you know that, as of 1st October 2021, the Donaldson’s Group has been restructured to ensure that “Donaldson’s Farm and Equine” is entirely focused on the needs of our farm and equine clients while “Donaldson’s Vets” is focused on the care of domestic animals.

The new model ensures the continued vibrancy of both the small animal and large animal sides of the Donaldson’s Group and ensures that you continue to access the high quality Veterinary care you require while we can maintain the independence we all value.
Outside of our normal opening hours, we have our own dedicated team of vets & nurses to provide 24-hour emergency care 365 days a year. Your pet will always be seen by one of our own team of vets & nurses. Our team will have access to your pets’ clinical records and have information on any current medication that they are receiving.
In case of an emergency please call 01484 421512. The phone will be answered by one of our out-of-hours team members. They will provide advice and arrange an out-of-hours consultation for your pet if necessary.
All our branch surgeries are covered out of hours by our Veterinary hospital located at Somerset Road, Almondbury, Huddersfield, HD5 8HN.
