Carly Hodgson RVNVeterinary Nurse
Carly's time at Donaldson's Vets started whilst she was in school and did her work experience at the Thongsbridge branch. She then went on to help voluntarily every Tuesday evening until she left school and was offered a job as a trainee Veterinary Nurse.She qualified in 2008 and has worked for the practice ever since. In 2009 she worked in Australia for 8 months as a Veterinary Nurse and then returned to Donaldson's when she came back to the UK. In her spare time Carly enjoys caring for and riding her horse Briar who she has owned for 15 years. She also owns a ginger cat named George who was a stray kitten she brought home from work a few years ago.
Chris Murphy BVMS MRCVSVeterinary Surgeon / Director
Chris graduated from Glasgow University in 2011. He spent 3 years in mixed practice in South Yorkshire before moving to Donaldson’s Vets in 2014. He became a director in 2016. Chris has wanted to be a vet all his life and loves all aspects of his job. He currently works at the Sowerby Bridge Surgery.Chris enjoys treating all animals and has a special interest in small animal internal medicine. He is also the Shepley cat advocate and helps Emma Holmes make sure the surgery is as cat friendly as possible.Chris owns a Yorkshire Terrier called Tinker, a Chihuahua called Nelly and a rescue cat called Katniss.When not at work Chris spends his free time running, playing for a football team in South Yorkshire and walking his dogs
Emma Holmes RVNSenior Nurse and Cat Advocate
Emma studied for her Veterinary Nursing qualification at Myerscough College and qualified in 2004. She is currently Senior Veterinary Nurse at the Mirfield branch of Donaldson's Vets where she particularly enjoys running nurse clinics, assisting with operations and large animal work.In 2012 she became a mum and returned to work part time. In her spare time she enjoys spending time with friends and family, walking her 2 terriers and helping out on the family farm.
Emma has worked part time as a receptionist at the Donaldson’s Vets Mirfield Surgery since September 2012. She previously worked in the food industry after she qualified for a BSc in Agri-Food Production with Marketing and Management Degree at Harper Adams University College. She owns numerous farm animals including pigs and chickens, as well as having two horses which she enjoys competing when she gets the time.
Helen Hissett BVSc BSc MRCVSVeterinary Surgeon
Helen studied Veterinary Science at the University of Liverpool. After graduating in 2010 she went to work for a mixed practice in North Yorkshire for a year and a half. At the start of 2012 she returned to the Donaldson family where she had spent a lot of time as a student. She enjoys all aspects of mixed practice. In her spare time she enjoys walking her Trailhound Lily, horse-riding and socialising with friends.
Richie Hampshire BVSc MRCVSVeterinary Surgeon
Richie graduated from the University of Liverpool in 2015. She came straight from there to working at Donaldson’s Vets. Richie knows all the staff and many of the patients as she had been a student with us for a number of years.Richie enjoys treating farm, equine and small animals. She works at all branches, but is primarily found at the Maple Street and Birchencliffe branches. Richie has a small terrier cross called Mabel, who comes to work with her every day.In her spare time Ritchie enjoys walking her dog and can be found baking in the kitchen as one day she hopes to be seen on the Great British Bake Off. Ritchie also helps out at Honley and Emley shows as the sheep section secretary.
Tracey LawAuxiliary Nurse
Tracey started at Donaldson's Vets in January 2017. She had been working as a nurse previously for 3 years at another practice and has a triple star distinction in animal management from Kirklees College.. Tracey grew up on a farm and enjoys all aspects of working with animals.In her spare time she can be found walking her dogs and spending time with her family.
