Carly Hodgson RVNVeterinary Nurse
Carly's time at Donaldson's Vets started whilst she was in school and did her work experience at the Thongsbridge branch. She then went on to help voluntarily every Tuesday evening until she left school and was offered a job as a trainee Veterinary Nurse.She qualified in 2008 and has worked for the practice ever since. In 2009 she worked in Australia for 8 months as a Veterinary Nurse and then returned to Donaldson's when she came back to the UK. In her spare time Carly enjoys caring for and riding her horse Briar who she has owned for 15 years. She also owns a ginger cat named George who was a stray kitten she brought home from work a few years ago.
Chris Murphy BVMS MRCVSVeterinary Surgeon / Director
Chris graduated from Glasgow University in 2011. He spent 3 years in mixed practice in South Yorkshire before moving to Donaldson’s Vets in 2014. He became a director in 2016. Chris has wanted to be a vet all his life and loves all aspects of his job. He currently works at the Shepley Surgery.Chris enjoys treating all animals and has a special interest in small animal internal medicine. He is also the Shepley cat advocate and helps Emma Holmes make sure the surgery is as cat friendly as possible.Chris owns a 2 Yorkshire Terriers called Tinker and Cocoa, a Chihuahua called Nelly and a rescue cat called Katniss.When not at work Chris spends his free time running, playing for a football team in South Yorkshire and walking his dogs
Emma Holmes RVNSenior Nurse and Cat Advocate
Emma studied for her Veterinary Nursing qualification at Myerscough College and qualified in 2004. she is currently the Senior Nurse at the Shepley branch of Donaldson's vets where she particularly enjoys running nurse clinics, assisting with operations and large animal work.In 2012 she became a mum and returned to work part time. She enjoys spending time with family and friends, walking her dogs and helping out on the family farm.
Lucy KnowlesStudent Veterinary Nurse
Lucy started working for Donaldson’s Vets in September 2017 and is from a farming background and really enjoys working with animals. She is looking forward to doing her veterinary nurse training in the future. In her spare time she is out on the farm feeding calves and looking after her rabbits, stray cats and Poppy the farm border collie.
Nicola BurnsAuxiliary Nurse
Nicola joined Donaldson's vets as an Assistant Nurse in April 2018 after 18 years of working in graphic design, she has always adored animals and wanted a rewarding career that she loved. She has 3 cats at home, one of which was a feral needing a home that she brought home from work.In her spare time Nicola enjoys spending time with her husband and two children, running and keeping fit
Richie Hampshire BVSc MRCVSVeterinary Surgeon
Richie graduated from the University of Liverpool in 2015. She came straight from there to working at Donaldson’s Vets. Richie knows all the staff and many of the patients as she had been a student with us for a number of years.Richie enjoys treating farm, equine and small animals. She works at all branches, but is mainly based at the Shepley surgery. Richie has a small terrier cross called Mabel, who comes to work with her every day.In her spare time Richie enjoys walking her dog and can be found baking in the kitchen as one day she hopes to be seen on the Great British Bake Off. Richie also helps out at Honley and Emley shows as the sheep section secretary.
