Andrew Arnold BVMS BSc MRCVSVeterinary Surgeon / Director
Andrew graduated from the University of Glasgow in 2005 having previously completed a degree in Biochemistry at Liverpool and spent a year working in this field. He started work straight away at Donaldson’s, having spent many years previously seeing practice at the Maple Street surgery. Andrew became a Director in 2016 and is lead vet at the Mirfield branch.Andrew enjoys the variety of mixed practice, an interest from having owned a range of animals whilst growing up. He still maintains a small ‘flock’ of sheep. Outside of work, Andrew enjoys skiing, the occasional round of golf (if the sun is shining) and walking Martha (whether the sun is shining or not).
Annerley SpiersAuxiliary Nurse
Annerley started working at Donaldsons Vets in November 2017. She has gained a lot of experience working with a wide range of animals, especially in the equine field. She has achieved several certificates including horse management, road safety and first aid. Annerley has always been passionate about animals having been around them from a young age and feel like becoming a fully qualified Veterinary Nurse is the perfect career for her.
Clair Batley RVNSenior Veterinary Nurse
Clair began working as a trainee veterinary nurse at Donaldson's Vets in 1989. She qualified as a Veterinary Nurse in 1993. After working for twenty years, Clair then ventured off to experience working in a veterinary orthopaedic referral centre to gain new career skills, which she did for three years. Clair returned to Donaldson's and she now is the Senior Veterinary Nurse at our Birchencliffe surgery and also is a member of the Animal Rehabilitation Centre team. In Clair's spare time she enjoys running and all aspects of family life with her husband, two sons and Neville the cat.
Liz has been part of the Donaldson's team since 1971. She started at the Maple Street surgery as a kennel maid, but after several years she took on the administration role for the practice. When the Mirfield surgery was opened in 2005 Liz moved over as the receptionist where she has been ever since. Liz especially enjoys the face to face time with the pets and their owners that come into the practice.She owns 3 rescue cats called Chloe, Oscar and Barney and in her spare time she enjoys reading and socialising with friends and family.
Georgia Hawksworth RVNVeterinary Nurse
Georgia has been part of the Donaldson's team since 2015. After completing an Animal Health and Welfare Foundation Degree, Georgia began studying in September 2015 for the Level 3 Diploma in Veterinary Nursing at the College of Animal Welfare Leeds and qualified in 2017Away from studying Georgia enjoys taking her dog (pictured) on long walks in the Yorkshire countryside.
Lucy KnowlesAuxiliary nurse
Lucy started working for Donaldson’s Vets in September 2017 and is from a farming background and really enjoys working with animals. She is looking forward to doing her veterinary nurse training in the future. In her spare time she is out on the farm feeding calves and looking after her rabbits, stray cats and Poppy the farm border collie.
Sarah Emmott RVNSenior Veterinary Nurse
Sarah came to work at Donaldson's Vets straight from leaving school in 2000 when the Birchencliffe branch was originally built. She moved to the Maple Street hospital in 2003 became a Veterinary Nurse in 2005. She then passed her DipAVN (SA) and Degree in Clinical Veterinary Nursing in 2011. After a short stint as both a branch holiday-cover nurse, an assistant senior nurse at Maple Street as well as an assessor for student nurses, Sarah is currently working at the Mirfield surgery filling in for maternity leave.At home on her husband's dairy farm, Sarah is kept busy with 'Myrtle' her Miniature Pinscher, a collection of 25 hens (and climbing) and the farm collies as well as helping out occasionally at milking time!
