Ann trained at the Thongsbridge surgery and then moved to Maple Street where she has worked since 2003. Over this time she has met many wonderful patients and couldn’t pick a favourite. Ann loves the fact she still sees new things every day, even after so many years. Ann owns 2 Border Collies called Scholla and Ollie who take up all her free time walking them in the local woods and fields

Charlotte Crowther RVNVeterinary Nurse
Charlotte has worked for Donaldson's Vets since 2003 after finishing a degree in Animal Behaviour and Ecology, and then training as a Veterinary Nurse. She has been part of the night shift team since 2004 and loves emergency work. Charlotte has gained the Certificate in Emergency and Critical Care, and also in Small Animal Nutrition. Her spare time is taken up with her family, two horses, three dogs, cats, poultry and gardening when she can get the chance!
Chris Allen BVSc MRCVSVeterinary surgeon
Chris graduated in 1996 and went on to work for the PDSA charity for 20 years. Chris started at Donaldson's Vets in 2016 and is primarily based at our Maple Street hospital. He enjoys all aspects of small animal practice and is especially interested in complex skin and bone operations, as well as routine and not so routine eye cases.. Outside of work Chris is kept busy with his family, his pet pigs and attending motorbike track days.
Cordelia Edwards BVSc MRCVSVeterinary Surgeon
Cordelia graduated from the University of Liverpool in 2016 and joined the Donaldson's team straight away. Cordelia enjoys treating small, equine and farm animals but has a strong interest in equine medicine. She can be found primarily at our Maple Street and Thongsbridge surgeries. In her spare time Cordelia plays netball for a local team, show jumps and enjoys socialising with friends. She owns 2 cats, Mouse and Pablo who are mother and son, and is on the lookout for a new horse in Yorkshire
Clare has worked as part of the Donaldson's team for many years. She has had experience at all of our branches so knows the clients and their pets very well.Clare has a number of animals of her own including chickens, dogs and horses. Interests outside of work are show jumping with her daughter and going skiing and on holiday!
Diane CliffordAuxillary Nurse
Diane joined the practice in 2015. You could find her at any branch of Donaldson’s Vets but she primarily spends her time at the Maple Street Surgery. Diane previously worked in the mounted division of the West Yorkshire Police and also has a farming background so is happy dealing with all aspects of a mixed Veterinary Practice. Diane has a Border Collie called Taz, a cat called Casper and a Rabbit called “Tuther One”In her spare time she enjoys bowling, cycling and walking the dogs. Diane also competes in agility and flyball with Taz.
Ellie Cowton BVM&S MRCVSVeterinary Surgeon
Ellie graduated from the University of Edinburgh in 2016 and started with us soon afterwards. She saw practice with us as a student and we were keen that she stay on with us. Ellie mainly works at Maple street and has keen interest in surgery, but she also enjoys treating farm and equine patients, especially sheep as her favourite time of year is lambing time. In her spare time Ellie enjoys knitting and fell walking, particularly in the lake district. She also likes making regular visits back up to Edinburgh to see friends and take part in the Celtic fire festivals.
Fiona SmithHead Receptionist
Fiona is the practice head receptionist and has been with Donaldson’s Vets since 1986. She likes all aspects of working in a veterinary surgery and says she is lucky to have worked with such strong and friendly team throughout her time with us. She is now based at the Maple Street surgery full time.Fiona owns and red retriever called Folly and a rescue cat called Matilda. Fiona loves the outdoors and spends her free time enjoying all the UK countryside has to offer.
Graham Mills BVMS MRCVSVeterinary Surgeon
Jackie worked as a cashier for over 30 years and decided it was time for a change. She now works at the Maple Street surgery and thoroughly enjoys seeing the wide variety of animals that come through the door. Jackie owns a lovely Springer Spaniel called Mollie. In her spare time she enjoys riding on her horse Prince, walking Mollie and spending time with family and friends.
Jade Moorhouse RVNVeterinary Nurse
Jade has been part of the Donaldson's team since 2013. Jade is currently training to become a Fully Qualified Nurse. Jade says that she feels very lucky to have a job that she enjoys going to, as everyday is different and she gets to spend the whole day with animals!In the past Jade has been a professional dog handler. She trained and worked her dogs Ben and Leo alongside security firms and the police. Her Labrador Ben is trained as a drug detection dog and Leo is trained to track, take down and detain baddies! In her spare time Jade likes to go clay pigeon shooting and visiting her parents and sister in the Scottish Highlands.
Jayne has been with the practice since 2014 and works solely at the Maple Street Surgery. The best part of her job is seeing improvements of the once poorly patients when they go home. A few cuddles from puppies and kittens don’t go amiss either!Outside of work Jayne enjoys walking, keeping fit and socialising with friends

Janette has worked at Donaldson's Vets since 1995. Originally she worked behind reception at the Maple Street hospital. Now Janette is responsible for farm and equine administration as well as other organisational roles behind the scenes.Janette has one horse, one cat and three dogs. In her spare time she enjoys walking her dogs, riding her horse and going to the gym.
Jeremy Cookson BVSc MRCVSVeterinary Surgeon / Director
Jeremy qualified from Liverpool University in 1977 and from there cam straight to Donaldson’s Vets. He has been a partner since 1988 and has seen the Practice grow from a three vet practice based at one site to what we are today. He spends a large part of the day covering the farm and equine calls, whilst spending the evenings working with our small animal clients. He has a special interest in exotic species and routinely sees referral cases. At home he has a collection of dogs, cats, rabbits, ferrets, snakes and a tortoise to keep him busy.
Jo Crossley RVNVeterinary nurse; Insurance and Admin Team
Jo started work at Donaldson's Vets in April 2017. Previously she has been the Head Nurse at a small animal hospital and held a position as a technical adviser in a pet claims department.She owns a dog called Moray and 2 cats called Mavis and Marvin.Out of work Jo enjoys walking her dog, watching Halifax RLFC and Zumba
Julie HolmesAuxiliary Nurse
Julie has worked for Donaldson's Vets since September 2000, the majority of that time on the night shift that we provide. Her duties include helping the Qualified Nurse and Veterinary Surgeon on call, taking emergency phone calls, caring for the in-patients and going on home and farm visits.She lives in Upper Cumberworth on a small holding with a collection of pets and a small herd of cows.
Leah Murphy RVNSenior Veterinary Nurse
Leah started working for Donaldsons vets in October 2007 as a Trainee Veterinary Nurse at the Birchencliffe branch. She then moved to the Maple Street Hospital to start veterinary nurse training. She qualified in 2012. Leah was brought up on a farm and enjoys assisting the veterinary surgeons with large animal procedures.Leah is particularly interested in orthopaedic surgery and anaesthesia.
Growing up Lisa always knew she wanted to work with animals and has always felt passionate about their welfare. She joined Donaldson's Vets straight from school over twenty years ago and fulfilled her ambition to become a Qualified Veterinary Nurse in 1999.Lisa has enjoyed working at all of our branches, and was given the position of Senior Nurse at the Mirfield branch when it opened. Since having her first daughter in 2008 she returned to Nursing on a part time basis at Birchencliffe and currently can be found most Saturday mornings on Reception duty at Maple Street or Birchencliffe. Lisa now has a second daughter as well.Lisa says she is extremely proud to be a part of a professional and caring team.

Martin Paterson BVMS MRCVSVeterinary Surgeon / Director
Martin qualified from Glasgow Vet School in 1995, travelled south to Huddersfield with the intention of staying for a couple of years. He has worked with us ever since and became a Partner in the Practice in 1998. With a strong grounding in all aspects of mixed practice, Martin now does predominantly small animal work and has a keen interest in Soft Tissue and Orthopaedic surgery.Martin also now deals with much of the administrative work of the Practice which he fits in around clinical work. Over lunch time, he takes off his clinician’s hat and dons that of HR manager, IT consultant or handyman depending on requirements. Martin has an interest in veterinary politics and has been elected President of the Yorkshire Veterinary Society in the past and writes a weekly column in the Huddersfield Daily Examiner. Out of work, Martin, his wife and son breed high health status Labrador dogs from working and field lines, Pedigree Berkshire pigs and Pedigree Southdown sheep on their smallholding.
Matthew Smith BVMS MRCVSVeterinary Surgeon
Matthew started with us in August 2014 having graduated from the university of Glasgow. He spends most of the day out and on farms and has a keen interest in cattle practice and surgery performing routine health and fertility work both with beef and dairy on a daily basis. Whilst in the surgery, his other interests lie with the exotics branch of the practice getting involved with reptiles, birds and any other weird and wonderful creatures that are brought down! Out of work Matthew enjoys scuba diving, clay pigeon shooting and looking after his pets; two corn snakes and a bearded dragon called Dennis.
Mick Hancock BVSc MRCVSVeterinary Surgeon / Director
Mick qualified way back in 1987 from Liverpool University. After a short spell working in Berkshire he came north to Donaldson’s Vets in 1988 and has been here ever since.As one of our most experienced clinicians, Mick has a wealth of knowledge in all aspects of mixed practice. Most of his days now are taken up with horse and farm work but he still enjoys his evening small animal surgery at Maple Street.If you are unlucky you will still see him struggling up the hills of West Yorkshire on bike at the weekends!

Richie Hampshire BVSc MRCVSVeterinary Surgeon
Richie graduated from the University of Liverpool in 2015. She came straight from there to working at Donaldson’s Vets. Richie knows all the staff and many of the patients as she had been a student with us for a number of years.Richie enjoys treating farm, equine and small animals. She works at all branches, but is primarily found at the Maple Street and Birchencliffe branches. Richie has a small terrier cross called Mabel, who comes to work with her every day.In her spare time Ritchie enjoys walking her dog and can be found baking in the kitchen as one day she hopes to be seen on the Great British Bake Off. Ritchie also helps out at Honley and Emley shows as the sheep section secretary.

Shona has worked at Donaldson's Vets since qualifying from Liverpool in 2012. She does mainly large animal work including routine fertility visits in dairy and beef cattle, fertility testing in rams and bulls and Herd Health Planning. She also enjoys her small animal work and can be found at any of our branches from time to time.Out of work Shona spends most of her time outdoors walking her dogs, clay pigeon shooting with friends and going on the occasional skiing holiday.
